Maplewood Cabinetry’s Commercial Millwork Featured in Phoenix Business Journal

Maplewood Cabinetry’s custom lobby installation at Landmark Office Tower has been featured in the Phoenix Business Journal (Feb 13–19, 2026), highlighting the project’s architectural millwork, material integration, and execution within an active high-rise environment.

The renovation focused on creating a refined tenant arrival experience while improving durability and functionality in a high-traffic commercial setting.

A Lobby Designed for First Impressions and Daily Performance

Commercial lobbies serve as both a brand touchpoint and a functional circulation space. At 3003, the design required millwork that could withstand constant use while presenting a clean, modern identity aligned with the building’s repositioning.

Maplewood Cabinetry fabricated and installed:

  • Custom Shinoki wall paneling and slat feature wall
  • A millwork security desk designed for daily operational use
  • A custom stone bench with integrated planters

Each element was detailed to support long-term durability, ease of maintenance, and visual consistency across materials.

The Shinoki brand wall serves as a focal point for tenant and visitor arrival, while the adjacent slat wall introduces depth and acoustic softening within the open lobby volume. The millwork security desk was designed to support controlled access and daily operational workflow without interrupting the visual continuity of the space.

The custom stone bench with integrated planters introduces a biophilic element, softening the architectural materials and providing a functional waiting area that aligns with the building’s updated interior positioning.

Executing Millwork Inside an Active High-Rise

The installation was completed while the building remained fully operational. Work was phased to maintain lobby access, meet cleanliness standards, and coordinate with building management, tenants, and trade partners.

Active commercial environments require:

  • Controlled staging and material handling
  • Dust and noise mitigation
  • Strict scheduling windows
  • Continuous safety compliance

These constraints influence fabrication tolerances, sequencing, and installation methodology, making pre-construction coordination critical to project success.

The millwork project was delivered in coordination with Stevens Leinweber Construction, Inc., the project’s general contractor, and Nelsen Partners, Inc., Architects and Planners, aligning fabrication, scheduling, and installation with the broader construction timeline.

Why the Project Was Selected for Coverage
